Wealth Innovation & Diversity by Joel Barker
Wealth Innovation & Diversity takes you on a journey to understand a fundamental truth: Without diversity, there can be no innovation; without innovation there can be no new wealth. In other words, diversity is not just the right thing to do, it's your source of greatest potential.

Barker shares how organizations that do not reap the benefits of diversity are destined to stagnate and eventually . . . fail. He draws from history, science and business, against such backdrops as Machu Picchu's ruins, a farm in Ireland, skyscrapers in Singapore, and the forests and plains of America.

Drop By Drop
Drop By Drop training video deals with diversity and harassment from the angle of “micro-inequities” in the workplace.
Micro-inequities – small messages of bias or prejudice which are sent from one person to another, often without the sender being aware of the message. These small communications of disrespect and inequality usually aren’t intentional but they can be extremely destructive!
-No one is immune from sending and receiving micro-inequities. They exist in EVERY workplace, EVERY day. So there is a universal need for the training.
-We ALL have biases – that’s normal and natural. But we need to become more sensitive to the problems we can cause when they are communicated. An isolated incident of a micro-inequity might not cause a problem but when they ACCUMULATE it can be devastating. (Thus, the title, DROP BY DROP).
Video Synopsis: The program opens with an unhappy ending – the resignation of a frustrated employee. We then explore the workplace responsible for creating this situation. The use of an unusual host who seems to take pleasure in our failings and ‘challenges’ us with his strange perspective on our insensitive behaviors. He walks us through several examples of micro-inequities that could easily be avoided and then shares the key concepts for creating an inclusive and productive work environment:
Consider: Listen, empathize, and follow the “platinum rule” by treating others as they’d like to be treated.
Respect: Show regard for all races, religions, cultures and ages and value the talents each person brings to the workplace.
Learn: Be open to information about different cultures, customs and perspectives of your co-workers. Learn to communicate with kindness and clarity. Put a stop to the disrespectful little “paper cuts” co-workers unknowingly inflict upon each other. Raise awareness and emphasize the importance of maintaining a thoughtful and respectful workplace with Drop by Drop.

DVD or VHS 19 min.; Leaders Guide; PowerPoint Presentation on CD; Drop by Drop Handbook

OUCH! THAT STEREOTYPE HURTS
Why is OUCH! important?
Staying silent in the face of demeaning comments, stereotypes or bias allows these attitudes and behaviors to thrive. This undermines our ability to create an inclusive workplace where all employees are welcomed, treated with respect and able to do their best work. Yet, most employees and leaders who want to speak up don't know how. So, we say nothing.
What does OUCH! do?
In a unique and powerful way, viewers will experience the impact of stereotypical comments, explore why people don't speak up against stereotypes and other biased behaviors, and learn six techniques for speaking up without blame or guilt.
OUCH! Learning Objectives:
|
• |
Understand the impact of stereotypes and biased statements, even when casually said. |
|
• |
Identify the most common reasons people sit silent in the face of bias and stereotypes. |
|
• |
